I am reading Charles Dicken’s letters. Quite a lot of his correspondence was saved and put into books in the 1800s. I found the letter collections on Manybooks.net and downloaded them. I also have letters from Mark Twain and Rudyard Kipling. They are just fascinating to read. Charles Dickens writes a lot to his illustrator telling [...] What have I been up to lately? Not a whole heck of a lot. Well, I have been reading like a starving woman at a buffet. I don’t know if it’s just because I got a Kindle finally or if I have just missed it after listening to audio books for so long. You know what the [...] Ok ya’ll know I am attempting the Nanowrimo thing this year. That’s the National Novel Writing Month. So keep tabs on my [...] Great Balls o’Fire! I hand dyed this 8 oz ball of Corridale combed top. The wool matted slighly after drying. At first I thought I’d felted it, but I didn’t. It can be teased out and drafted, so it is not felted. Whew! And yes, I AM calling it “Great Balls o’Fire!” (exclamation point included) And then [...] Saturday kicks off National Novel Writing Month and the crazy thing called NaNoWriMo. That is when you decide to write a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. Usually I realize it’s NaNoWriMo halfway through the month. This year I actually remembered it before the beginning, so I signed up on their webpage and will [...] Well Amazon has lowered the price of the Kindle by about $50 making it closer in price to the Sony E-Book. It is the device I truely lust after. Imagine having an entire shelf of books with you at any time. Imagine flipping through those 200 books and not wanting to read anything in your stash [...] OMG! The Sony e-Book Reader comes with 100 Classic Literature titles if you buy it. This includes classic science fiction and other genre fiction plus the usual suspects, Austen, Dickens, Shakespeare… This is very quickly swaying me to a Sony instead of an Amazon Kindle. I still can’t afford either one right now, but I’m keeping my [...] It’s two days later and my second sock is almost finished. I really don’t have a problem with second sock syndrome at all, it seems. As a Matter of Fact, second socks knit up MUCH faster than the first one does, usually. I’m knitting in blue and yet I still live… Looking over my Ravelry project page, I have made more hats than anything else. The count on the page is 8 hats (and this one on the needles). Second most knit project are socks and sweaters, coming in [...] Ordnungswut is one of those wonderful German words which describes a feeling. Translated directly to English it means “Order Rage”. It describes the feeling of “I need to organize (insert xxx here) these books RIGHT NOW before I LOSE MY MIND!!!” (caps my own for emphasis…) Then you go on a tear, making a bigger mess [...] |
