Pondering Ravelry

Well my profile is pretty much finished. Got my projects up there and some of my yarn. Taking yarn pictures is tedious and I don’t have good light except on the weekend when I’d rather be doing something else. Susinok is my handle there if you want to see all my F.O.s in one place. I’m impressed with my finished objects list. I know there are not that many BIG items on there but hey. An FO is an FO, right?

What I was doing today is browsing patterns on Ravelry from various issues of Interweave Knits. The interesting thing is how many patterns have LOTS of projects but some don’t have any at all. Which led me to think. If the magazine sees which patterns are popular and which miss all-together, is it going to change the way they pick patterns to publish?

I wonder if the Knitty patterns are more popular than the Interweave patterns or Vogue or Knitters patterns. The thing is, there have NEVER been a place to get a feel for who knits what until now. I bet the knitting and publishing industry is going to be very interested in seeing all of this.

Of course how that affects us remains to be seen. It will give the industry some pretty good feedback as to which patterns are popular. I know Interweave browses the blogs because I got some feedback from them when I complained about my slow subscription last spring.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Uzumaki Socks! Starting them today at lunch with some of my hand dyed yarn. Click the link for free pattern.
