Trying to Resist

July 4th, 2008

I keep wanting to start more projects! I”m about to buckle down with my CeCe Cardigan and work on it some today while listening to my audio book. I have about four inches done on it already.

And Amigurumi continues to amuse me:

kitteh1

What do you call a cat with no legs? Nothing, because he can’t come anyway.

More bunnies have been spotted. Michael is seeing them now. Good thing it’s not just me.

And Bears, Oh My!

July 2nd, 2008

My first attempt at Amigurumi:

littlebear2

I bought the book Kyuto! Japanese Crafts: Amigurumi from the KnitPicks 50% off sale recently.

I just had to try one. I want to make some kittens and I found a few amigurumi dragons online. Plus I have the Creepy Cute Crochet book which is calling my name. Must make the grim reaper! And Death of Rats of course. Can’t have Death without Death of Rats.

I am off work today and Thursday and Friday! How did I manage that? Hehe. I must find more interesting eyes at Hobby Lobby.

Ya know, I have not worked on my socks lately. I think I’m over socks for a bit. My one Ms. Babs Bluegrass sock is languishing without being worked on at all. Poor thing.

Oh and I spotted three rabbits on Monday’s walk, plus saw two rabbits on the way to work yesterday over by Moore-Norman Votech. It’s the year of the rabbit! Maybe I should make an Amigurumi bunny, eh?

Some Crochet Updates

June 30th, 2008

OK my Crochet Bouquet and Crochet Flowers books arrived in the mail today. I had just a tiny bit of that Barbie pink yarn left, so I made some flowers:

Because a pink striped purse just isn’t girly enough. It has to have flowers! Demi is going to love it.

And I have not updated pictures of my Circles to Squares afghan in a while, so I laid out all of the blocks and took a picture:

What can I say? I LOVE THIS! Hehe it’s over halfway done now.

Cece Cardigan and Demi’s Purse

June 29th, 2008

I have been searching Ravelry and my magazines and patterns for the perfect cardigan pattern to use my Moroccan Red CotLin. I found it yesterday. I may take a lot of time looking around for a pattern but when I find it, that’s it. I purchased, downloaded, swatched, and cast on within an hour (the swatch took some time).

So I present the CeCe Cardigan from ChicKnits:

cece1

I love this shade of red. I’m going to make the 3/4 sleeve version because I’ll be wearing it a lot at work. It’s the perfect pattern. It has a simple lace design and it’s a seamless knit from the bottom up.

I didn’t go out much yesterday. I knit and I also organized my knitting books and magazines. I’m now at the point again where I can find something I’m looking for. That’s always nice. I bought several magazine holders and filed my magazines by title and by date so if I see something I like on Ravelry, I can lay hands on it without a major search party. Ordnugswut strikes again.

I also finished Demi’s purse just now. Here it is in all it’s pink glory!

I may try to crochet a flower motif to attach to it. Because a pink striped shell-edged purse just isn’t girly enough!

Quick Crochet Update

June 27th, 2008

Here is the progress on Demi’s bag…

demipurse2

I took a quick flash photo this morning. I worked on it at Sit’n'Stitch last night and I also made a few floral motifs from the front cover garment on Interweave Crochet.

Today I had to go to Hobby Lobby at lunch. Yes, I HAD to, I was sent to buy a certificate frame, so I browsed the yarn and bought a double armload of I Love This Yarn and some stitch markers and some more crochet hooks. Every single item was on sale, so I couldn’t use my 40% off coupon, hehe.

I am amassing a stash of acrylic in jeweltones in order to crochet the Babette Blanket as soon as my Circles to Squares Blanket is finished. Which will be very soon, I hope.

That’s all folks! Time to go for my walk and count bunnies!

Something Else

June 25th, 2008

I just don’t want to re-start Icarus just yet, and my niece Demi has a birthday next week, so I decided to make her a quick little purse.

Here is a pic, however in the short hour since I took the picture, I got another two stripes done.

demipurse1

I hope to finish it tomorrow or Friday and mail it off on Saturday morning. Her birthday is Tuesday, July 1. She is going to be six years old.

The pattern is vintage, from 1953. It’s called Red White and Black Drawstring Bag and it’s available free online. I found the pattern on Ravelry by searching for free crochet bags. Gotta love Ravelry for that kind of thing. I had 10 minutes before lunch, found it, printed it, and started it while my soup was heating up.

Oh and I only saw one rabbit at the pond on my walk today. There were more people walking and jogging the path today, so most of them were in tall cotton as it were.

OMG 70’s music alert! I HAD THIS 45 AS A KID!!!!!!!!

I am laughing my ASS OFF!

Hehehehehe. While we’re at it, I had this one, too….

Snerk!

Five More Rabbits

June 24th, 2008

and one less shawl. There were five rabbits at the wilderness area where I walk again this evening. Probably some of the same five I saw yesterday, since I saw them almost at the same spots in the trail. Is it breeding season? That should be over by now.

I had to rip Icarus back and start over. I somehow got off count halfway through the first chart and didn’t notice. DOH! I will start it again, and add some stitch markers between repeats this time, soon as my eyes can focus that small again. I also might to up a needle size. I was using 4s. I think 5s would be better.

Right now I have a stack of crochet books from the library to browse, so I’m headed to do that now. Someday I’ll show you my practice square, only not. Yes I’ll show it, but it’s not a square. It’s a hexagon! I very GOOD hexagon. I have no idea how my square turned six sided, but six sided it is.

Clearly I have some things to learn with crochet. New horizons! Right now I’m working on my Circle to Square Afgahn. The pattern is available free on the Lion Brand website. I need to take an updated picture, since I have over half of the blocks made now.

Five Rabbits

June 23rd, 2008

I went for my walk after work today and came across no less than five rabbits on the path this evening. I have not seen so many rabbits on one place in the wild, ever! One of them sat and stared at me for the longest time as I walked up. It finally broke for cover at the last minute. Then it stopped a bit along the path and watched me some more. Many rabbits!

I’ve been seeing a lot of animals out at the wilderness path lately. Last week I found a Speckled Kingsnake, a turtle, a horned lizard and a white tailed deer.

And THAT is the reason I hate treadmills, there aren’t any rabbits!

Here’s an Icarus update and prettier picture:

icarus3

Taken almost at sunset. I’m off to knit and listen to my audiobook #1 Ladies Detective Agency.

P.S. here’s Minnie with her face planted in the carpet. Her favorite sleeping position.

Adamas Finished Pictures

June 22nd, 2008

Adamas is completely finished and blocked and beautiful. I already wore it this morning to keep the AC off of my shoulders as I work on my next shawl project. More about that below.

First, here’s a full shot of Adamas:

adamas10

It is gorgeous! It’s a pretty good size, too. I only have a little ball of my yarn left, so it used up most of my two balls of Gloss.

Another closeup:

adamas9

I can’t stop with the pictures, can I? Heheh.

For my next shawl:

icarus2

Icarus! Also by Miriam Felton. I took the magazine and re-drew the chart in Knit Visualizer so that I can have a nice BIG chart to work from. I need some super-sticky post-it notes so I can stick them on the outside and not worry about them falling off.

I know I said I was going to do Luna Moth but Icarus called to me. I tried to knit it two or three times last year and failed miserably. So I’m going to give it a shot again using my own hand dyed Zephyr laceweight. Wish me luck!
